Round-Up: Who's your favorite Rapper?

Ed Lover, radio personality and rap impressario, went off on a tangent of how stale and diluted the rap game has become. While he recognized that rap as an art form is still a formiddable tool to express the plight of ghettostars and uplift the sepia communities, he says that good rappers are hard to find because they can't elbow their way through the masses of whack rappers, hood heroes and bootleggers. He regularly expresses disgust at the mediocrity that has gripped hip hop but gives credit where it is due. Lil Wayne, who at a young age still has 10 years in the game and Jay-z grown-man lyricist, got name-dropped as two of his favorite rappers. Who would be among your top five ryhme-spitters? I got one better, list your top five whack rappers?

Alpha Kappa Alpha to Host Historic June 28 Global Walk

Check out this article from BlackNews.com

On June 28, over 50,000 members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will link arms in a synchronized ESP 1908 Global Centennial Walk to raise awareness about the importance of fitness. Stepping off at the same time, worldwide, the members will send a strong statement about the importance of Emotional, Spiritual and Physical health.
Leading the walk will be International President Barbara A. McKinzie, who will be joined by 50,000 members from nearly 1,000 chapters, as well as friends and families who recognize the significance of making one's health a priority.
Those participating include members from every region, as well as from Canada, Germany, the Virgin Islands and the Bahamas. The walk is being coordinated by AKA's International Program Committee, chaired by Loann Honesty King. In planning the in-sync walk, King declared that the walk is full of symbolism that revolves around the Sorority's Centennial.

"To commemorate the Sorority's founding year--1908--the contingent will walk a symbolic 1908 steps, which is approximately two miles," King said.
In setting to this historic walk, participants will all face in the direction of Washington, DC, where Alpha Kappa Alpha's Centennial convention takes place, July 11-18. After completing the two-mile walk, members will meet again at the Sorority's biennial convention on Sunday, July 13 in Washington. There, in another show of solidarity, members will walk 1908 steps to the Washington Convention Center. At the culmination of this event, President McKinzie will lead members into the Center and the historic Centennial convention will officially begin.
Joining the walk to the Convention Center on July 13 will be Dr. Ian Smith, medical/diet expert on VH1's highly-rated Celebrity Fit Club, host of Meet the Faith on BET and his own nationally syndicated radio show HealthWatch on American Urban Radio Networks. Smith is also creator and founder of State Farm's "50 Million Pound Challenge," of which Alpha Kappa Alpha is a Challenge Champion. A vocal health advocate, he is expected to inspire the members with his rallying cry to lose weight and stay fit.
McKinzie explained that the Emotional, Spiritual and Physical walk adapts the ESP theme, the current administration's programmatic focus. This initiative specifically embraces Platform Five, which deals with Health Resource Management and Economics.
Declared McKinzie, "To reach that stratosphere of satisfaction where one is physically and mentally fit and poised to embrace all of life's rewards and challenges requires a balance of emotional intelligence, optimal psychology and spirituality. Studies prove that when all of these elements are in divine order, physical health, relationships and life satisfaction will be the result. This walk achieves that lofty purpose."
King extended an invitation to the worldwide community to join Alpha Kappa Alpha in making a statement on this momentous occasion.
Said King, "There is a connection between Emotional, Spiritual and Physical health. With women being afflicted by an array of ailments that can be mitigated through attention to the ESP elements that this walk symbolizes, we hope to send a signal that we are committed to taking care of our total health. Ultimately, when we are Emotionally, Spiritually and Physically fit, we are in a better position to serve our family, community and the world!"
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is America's first Greek-letter organization founded in 1908 by, and for, African-American college women. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, it is one of the world's leading service organizations. The Sorority's members have made a commitment "to serve all mankind" through a nucleus of more than 200,000 women in over 975 chapters in the United States, the Caribbean, Canada, Germany, Korea, Japan and in the continent of Africa. Barbara A. McKinzie is the 27th International President. Because her term coincides with the 100-year anniversary, she is being hailed as the "Centennial National President." McKinzie's administration is marked by the theme: ESP, which stands for Economics, Service and Partnership.

Sex And The City

Love. Love was the resounding thread in the tapestry of the movie Sex and the City. Jennifer Hudson, who plays Carrie Bradshaw’s St. Louis-transplanted assistant, Louise, carries around a gold-plated Love nameplate on her keychain— symbolic of her raison d’etre for moving to New York. When Louise finds love, ironically, in the ex-boyfriend who told her that he loved her but didn’t know if she was the one, she passed the nameplate to Carrie, who was still jilted from being left at the alter by her fiancĂ©, Big.

Carrie planned an extravagant wedding amidst love stories from the likes of Beethoven and Lord Byron in a grand library. Decked out in a Vivienne Westwood gown— gifted from the designer herself, she arrived to her wedding looking like she jumped out of the reels of a Disney fairytale. She’s in the foyer of the library, waiting to make her grand entrance and finds out that the man she loves has not made his entrance. Come to find out she let her wedding get bigger than, well, Big. Twice divorced, the most important highlight for him is simply Carrie.

There are many types of love in the Sex and the City, the platonic love of another woman, the kind of love that allows you to forgive; the unapologetic love of self; and a love that’s more tangible than anything written by Beethoven. Love is everywhere and so is sex. Like any good movie about liberated 40-something girl power there are shots of nakedness everywhere including a gratuitous shower scene of Samantha’s neighbor Dante. Whatever your poison— fashion, friendship or love— there is something for every diva.

Teacher and Student Fight In Class --Fox News

ATLANTA – A violent brawl that allegedly happened at a DeKalb County school was caught on tape. The fight happened at Stephenson High School involved a teacher and a student.

A cell phone camera captured graphic images of a Stephenson High School substitute teacher and a 10th grade student in an all out brawl.

Video: DeKalb Co. Student/Teacher Brawl Caught on Tape FOX 5's Aungelique Proctor Reports The teacher in the video said the fight happened last Friday, on the last day of school.

"Everything that happened, I regret the whole situation," said teacher Carolyn Jones.

Jones said she had several ongoing problems with four girls in her in school suspension class. Jones said she heard the student in question threaten to take her wig off and that's when the 53-year-old said she decided to remove her false hair herself.

Then at dismissal, Jones said the student snapped.

"Someone knocked on the door, letting us know that we can leave. I said everybody let's go, proceeded to step and move and I got hit in the face. I heard one of the students scream she hit the teacher," said Jones.

The school's police report told a different story. The report indicated that Jones kicked the student to start the fight.

Jones denied the allegations saying, "No, I did not kick her."

School officials said the incident was under investigation and school police wrote disorderly conduct citations for the both the student and the teacher.

"I feel that the school has failed me and [the student] because I had reported on three separate occasions the goings on in the class, the speech, the conduct," Jones said. "If something would have been done sooner, this might not have happened."

Jones said if she had it to do over again she would have responded differently and that it was unfortunate incident she now deeply regrets.

Mr. and Mrs. Carter in Cannes

He "got the hottest chick in the game wearin his ring."
Can anyone be mad at him? Well, apparently thousands. But,
years after their first collabo Bonnie and Clyde are still going strong. It seems like every year they do it bigger and even better. Trips to St. Tropez and the South of France, transitioning from track partners to Mr. and Mrs.

How many men you know wife their wifeys-- you know, the women that are good enough to marry yet accesible enough that there is no need. Many may hate on Beyonce and her lace-fronts, endless media exposure but she has one of the most powerful men in the industry treating her like a queen. Queen Bee has found her king, with swagger that needs no throne. Got dude screamin' out on tracks like "you the best mama."

Whatever she puttin' down many ladies could stand to pick up. Maybe if more people cater 2 their men they would be a wife instead of a wifey. See Mr. and Mrs. Carter leave the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes on Friday.

Are You Scared...

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
